Instead of “this scope of work shall be performed at t&m and not to exceed this price xxxx” it was worded “this scope of work shall be performed at t&m until we reach this price, xxxx, and then a change order will be submitted to continue work with. I am currently looking at a project that is design/build and i am stumped on how to put together a bid that looks professional and that looks like i know what i am doing. Most electrical contractors have a couple of go to guys that they get pricing from that they know will be competitive and also make them look good at the end of the day. My personal feeling is that he is either lying to me or i really did over bid it.

I was able to put together a proposal based off of this information, so all of the electrical contractors that were bidding the project were compared apples to apples. I am bidding my first commercial job.
